Twake.ai Named Recommended Sovereign Workplace for More Than 2,500 French Public Bodies
Twake.ai, the workplace platform built by French firms Linagora and Docaposte, has been designated the only officially recommended “sovereign” digital workplace for more than 2,500 French public organisations, Euronews reported on October 14 in a wider look at Nvidia’s French push. The stack runs Nvidia’s open-weight Nemotron models so that messaging, documents and agent features stay under French and European legal control rather than on a foreign hyperscaler control plane.
The recommendation sits inside Paris’s sovereignty doctrine: partner for chips and open weights, keep operational control and data residency at home. Euronews also noted SBS launching a bank-grade platform for governed generative and agentic services inside bank perimeters with Nvidia, and recalled Mistral’s private-preview open-weight Large 4 as another domestic model option.
For ministries and collectivités, a recommended workplace matters more than summit speeches. Procurement officers can point to a single brand when mayors ask which AI suite will not quietly ship citoyen data abroad, while unions will ask how agent features change civil-service workloads and appeal rights.
What it means in practice
Twake’s status complements open-weight industrial bets such as Mistral’s unveiling of Mistral Large 4 as a trillion-parameter open-weight model and capital flows like Nvidia’s planned French stakes as its Europe bet nears €9 billion. Hardware capacity from Bull’s rebuilt Angers factory doubling capacity for European AI supercomputers is the rack-side twin of sovereign software choices.
Public IT directors should test whether Twake’s agent tools log prompts, refuse high-risk actions and export audit trails that CNIL and inspectors can read. Competing US suites will need clearer EU-jurisdiction offers if they want residual share in the 2,500-body market.
What to watch: adoption numbers published by Docaposte or the state digital directorate, whether SBS bank deployments cite the same Nemotron stack, and if other EU governments copy France’s recommended-workplace model.
